Nualight is a high-growth technology company selling, designing and manufacturing LED lighting products for International markets. The cost accountant will report to the financial controller with primary focus on analysing and controlling Costs of Goods sold – this will include responsibility for analysing and recording Bills of Material and manufacturing costs, setting and controlling outgoing investment decisions and opportunities for margin improvement/cost savings. The role will be predominantly based in Nualight’s Cork HQ with occasional involvement with subsidiaries in Poland and the Netherlands
Responsibility:
Maintain and where necessary, improve or establish data accumulation systems for a cost accounting system
Determine and update standard costs in the bill of material
Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies
Determine and update other standard costs in product manufacturing and delivery
Approve and update costs and margins in standard sales price list
Control cost element of pricing quotations of non-standard products
Participate in the month-end close with focus on validating the cost of goods sold
Analyse actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products
Assist in preparing cost and margin analysis for the Board of Directors
Work with Operations to locate and dispose of obsolete inventory
Analyse investment opportunities and alternative production methods
Participate in New Product Introduction processes with a view to achieving BOM and other cost targets
The right Cost Accountant/Cost Analyst will have the following qualifications:
à Minimum of 2 solid years of Cost Accounting in a Manufacturing Environment
à CIMA qualified
à Bachelors Degree in Accounting
à Must have a strong Cost system background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principals
à Computer Literate – Strong Excel skills and the ability to use Outlook and Word
à Experience with Navision a plus
à Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards
à Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports
