A leading Irish energy provider, Bord Gáis Energy is responsible for delivering gas, electricity & home team energy services to over 1,000,000 industrial, commercial and residential customers. Applications are now invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Commercial Lawyer, Dublin.
Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Legal, the Commercial Lawyer will be primarily responsible for providing legal support to the Retail and Customer Operations functions of the business. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong decision making skills along with an ability to plan and prioritise their work along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Advising the commercial function of the business on a wide variety of issues including, consumer t’s and c’s, consumer law, debt collection, complaints, new project offerings, outsourcing agreements, variation agreements etc.
• Drafting and negotiation of a wide variety of legal agreements (contracts for supply of services, consultancy contracts, I.T. contracts, supplier furnished terms and conditions)
• Advising, researching and reporting on specific legal and regulatory issues that arise from time to time e.g. company law, procurement law, energy law
• Assisting the Head of Legal with driving improvements in the legal service provided to the business.
• Liaising with external legal advisors where specialist legal advice is required.
• Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Irish qualified Solicitor with preferably between 3 and 5 years post qualification experience.
• Experience in commercial contracts essential. Experience in consumer law, procurement or energy regulation an advantage.
• Ability to act on own initiative essential.
• Experience with identifying improvement opportunities, generating ideas and implementing solutions.
• Due to the nature of the role, flexibility in working hours will be required and occasional travel within Ireland and Northern Ireland
• Good inter-personal skills with an ability to deal with a broad range of issues and business areas.
